Denise Simpson, 66, Minot, ND, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.
Denise Diane Markham was born November 11, 1959, the daughter of Dennis and Dorothy (Sprankle) Markham in Escondido, California. She was blessed with a stepdad who helped raise her, Kenneth Gardner. She spent her formative years in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where she graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1978.
Throughout her life, Denise found strength in her Baptist faith, which remained an important part of who she was. She treasured her family and shared a lifelong bond with her four sisters and one brother She was blessed with one son, Keith.
Denise loved arts and crafts. She was incredibly creative and made beautiful wreaths.
Denise lived a quiet life and will be remembered by those who knew her as a familiar and valued part of her family. While she preferred a simple life away from the spotlight, her presence will be deeply missed by those who loved her.
Her loving family includes: son, Keith Markham and his partner, Melissa Taylor; siblings, Connie Opperude (Bob), Kimberly Elias, John Markham and Jackie Koontz (Billy); extended family, and friends who will remember her and carry her memory forward.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Gardner & sister, Jchell Speziale.
The family is grateful for the care and compassion shown to Denise during her final days and appreciates the love and support extended to them during this difficult time.
