Lola Hagen, 88, Minot, died Thursday, May 22, 2025 in a Minot hospital.

Lola was born August 24, 1936 in Egan township, Mountrail County, rural Tagus, ND to John and Olyda (Anderson) Lindahl.  She grew up as the 6th of 11 children on the Lindahl family farm.

The summer before her junior year of high school Lola’s aunt Aggie was visiting from Seattle and told her brother, John – you have too many kids here on the farm and I only have 1 so Aggie took Lola and her sister Elaine to live with her family in Seattle.  Lola graduated from Highline High School in 1956 and remained in Seattle for a couple years where she worked on a strawberry farm and then at a bank.  After a few years on the west coast, Lola missed her family back in North Dakota, especially her younger brothers and nephews, so she returned to live in Minot where she was employed by Whites creamery and then Bell telephone, where she made many lifelong friends.  Lola later worked at Herberger’s Department store and Dots Uniform Shop.

She was united in marriage to Dale Hagen on March 20, 1964 at St. Olaf’s Lutheran church in Tagus, ND. They made their home in Minot then moved to a farm and ranch in Sundre Township, southeast of Minot, where they lived for 38 years.  Lola later lived at Elison assisted living and Maple View Memory Care.

Lola was a member of Augustana Lutheran Church and then Christ Lutheran Church when the 2 merged as a result of flooding in spring 2011.  She was active with the Lutheran Church Women, Naomi Circle, assisting with Sunday school and helping out wherever needed.  Lola loved listening to the church choir, they’ve always held a special place in her heart.  She was a member of the Souris Valley Homemakers Club, she was a 4-H leader, and a township clerk for Sundre Township.  Lola enjoyed playing golf on the Souris Valley golf course ladies league but her favorite golf games were played with her grandkids.  She also bowled for many years at North Hill Bowl, first on couples league night and then for decades on a ladies league, with life-long friends.

Lola’s favorite pastimes involved attending her grandkids’ events and spending time with friends and family, which maybe included a game or two of pinochle.  Lola cherished her family and friends.

Lola is survived by daughters, Susan (Waldo) Ackerman, Aurora, CO and Brenda (Todd) Hustad, Minot; grandchildren, Kenneth Ackerman, Aurora, CO, Amber Barron (Kirk Jr.) Tuscaloosa, AL, Emma Ackerman, Gainesville, FL and Ashley Hustad, Minot, Colter (Taylor) Hustad, Minot; great-grandsons, Koe Hagen Hustad & Kampbell Thomas Hustad, Minot; sisters, Elaine Lindahl, Newport Coast, CA, Eloise Watson, Glasgow, MT; brother Albert (Connie) Lindahl, Sawyer, ND, and many nieces and nephews.

Lola was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 54 years, Dale, son Todd Hagen, brothers, Elmer “Bud”, Norman, Alvin, Donald and Clayton, and sisters, Myrtle Moore and Laurella Baumgartner.
