Patricia Jean Uhlir, 96 of Minot, ND formerly of Addison, IL died peacefully in her home May 23, 2026.

Jean was born October 1, 1929 to Frank and Bernice (Kivley) Novak at their farm north of Minot. She attended a rural elementary school, graduating from Minot High School in 1947.

Throughout her years in Minot, Jean’s career included employment by Ward County, the Corps of Engineers Garrison Dam project, and the Minot Air Force Base.

During a visit home, while attending NDSU, she met Charles Uhlir. They were married March 26, 1960 and made their home in Lyons, IL. Jean and Charlie were blessed with the birth of their daughter Linda Marie, January 8, 1961. Every summer when Linda was growing up, they made the trip to Minot to visit family and friends. The highlight was always the summer picnic at the Bohemian Hall.

After raising Linda, Jean resumed her career by joining the Electrolux corporation. In retirement, Jean and Charlie enjoyed traveling (including international trips to Mexico and Czechoslovakia) as well as local music and art events, especially when Linda joined them. Charlie passed away June 2003. Linda passed away August 2014.

In 2019, Jean made the decision to return to Minot and make Somerset her home. Over the years, she cherished the friends, neighbors, and staff in her new home. Jean thoroughly enjoyed all music events and various daily activities.
